New Items

I recently went to Birmingham and had time to pop into the rag market.  I am so happy.  Look what wonderful mini patterns I managed to pick up.

The beauty of these pieces of material is the size of the patterns.  Each one would be suitable for a variety of scales, which means plenty of scope for a wide variety of ideas.

Next time, I go I am hoping to pick up some mini patterns other than flowers but there is so much choice it was impossible to get it all in one day.

And to round off my lovely day, the 20mm acrylic eyes I ordered from Amazon arrived.  The seller is Kiddies Korner Reborn Supplies.  They arrived a lot quicker than I thought they would and they are beautiful.  I will be looking at ordering from these again.  They have other eyes that I am also interested in.

They were an impulse purchase.  I bought them without having a clear idea of who they would be for or the look I was aiming for.  So, I am now looking into which doll they will be suitable for but I am currently thinking they would look great with a blue skin Hujoo Basic.  I am going to do a bit more research but so far I feel she is the most suitable.

Wrong time of year but...

Today I made a simple summer dress.

The pattern was really easy.  I have seen similar ones in various books and magazines, with all of them using ribbon or lace to add a bit of interest.

So, first off, the pattern and material.

Even for me, the sewing was really easy and was finished in a really short time.

I kind of cheated because I ended up gluing the ribbon on.  I was also lucky because I found some metal coat hangers that I had made a while ago and used one of those to put with the dress.

This is to be a gift for my mum.  She has a modern haberdashery with living accommodation above.  I am hoping this can be used in either upstairs or downstairs.

Fabric Stash update

Here is the latest lot of fabric that I bought yesterday when I went to Birmingham Rag Market.

I have so many projects that I want to get on with  including;

  • 1/24th scale bedding - this is something that has been in the planning for over a year.
  • fill a cupboard/wardrobe - again something originally planned a while ago
  • bedding etc for the petshop - cats and dogs do like bedding and owners want something that will look good in their homes (even mini ones).
  • real life quilt using the paper piecing method - this is something I remember my nan doing from my childhood and I am going to be making a start myself again once I have the time and opportunity.

Fingers crossed this week goes as planned so that I can finally start making some progress on something.
