Today I decided to start working on two plain wood chairs I bought from Dolls House Mania a few days ago.  I painted them both cream but didnt like the fabric on the seating,  This is a picture half way through. with the new material selected and the seat padding taken apart.

The fabric I chose looks slightly different to how it has turned out on the photo, it has flecks of different coloured greens in it and has a shine to it.  It was a little more difficult to stick than I had hoped.  Still, they are now done, just a little bit of touching up to do tomorrow.  I also made a bale of towels using microfibre dusters wrapped in ribbon from my stash of bits n bobs.

Phew, so glad the chairs are nearly completed.  Tomorrow I am going to start working on a table that is plain wood.  It needs painting, sanding and then I need to make a tablecloth for it..... now that will be interesting judging by how my adventures with fabric have been so far lol.

Little bit of this, little bit of that

Today was my first day of making little bits towards my various projects.  I wasnt in the mood for clay today or fabrics so, I made three little bags out of a kit I bought off ebay from Hilda Burden.  They were very simple and quick to make and I am really pleased with the results.  I also made some items for a bathroom from craft foam.  They were also really quick and easy to make but I am not so sure whether I like the results so much.  Finally I got two plain white mugs from my stash of previously made etc box that were already varnished.  For these I just put a simple design of hearts and kisses on with sharpie pens.  I found this easier than previous attempts at painting a design so I think I will stick to using pens for designs on mugs.

As you can see, my cutting mat has had plenty of use so that is the next thing on my craft list that I need to replace haha.  All in all I am very pleased with what I achieved today.  Tomorrow is going to be a continuation of making various items for my projects.  I am not sure exactly what though yet, I have lots of clay items that I need to make that I havent gotten round to yet so, that is a distinct possibility as long as I can spread all my things out.

Eureka moment

No photos today but hopefully tomorrow I will have some photos of what I have been up to.  I ran out of batteries so its off up to the shops tomorrow to buy some more.

Today I spent the day with my mum and dad.  My mum thinks that I have been overcomplicating things and making my first attempts at making some items too difficult for myself so, I have decided to go for simple to start with and move on to embellishing later when I am feeling more confident.  After spending a bit of time out of the house today, I am now feeling like I have a head full of ideas so tomorrow and over the weekend I am hoping to get cracking with some of the items I have been nervous about starting or in some cases completing.  With the list of items that I need to make over the next week, I am really looking forward to the next few days.

I must admit that I am having a lovely time looking through all the blogs and there are plenty out there by wonderfully talented ladies and gents in a whole range of crafts.  I have been amazed at how fast time can fly when starting to read and looking through older posts for previous progress pictures.

Son's Museum

Ok, this photo is an up to date photo of my youngest son's progress on his 1/12th scale museum.  He has always loved going to the museum for as long as I can remember so he decided to build and put together the pieces with a little help from family members (mainly his grandad).

Hope you enjoy!  :)

Nosey neighbours - not what they may seem?

Ok, first off, I was out the front of my house the other day and saw my nets twitching.  Now, my neighbours upon seeing this may think we are very nosey but, its not us! Promise! Well, not all the time, and here's the proof.

I have made progress on the bedding front but, not quite got the effect I am after yet so, will post pictures once I have got something I am happy with.  I have made a couple of purchases today, some metal clay tools and jewellery jump rings.  I love working with clay and have made one or two decent  looking breads, plates and candles etc, but, I want to make more complicated items and wanted some better tools than I had (though I think a normal sewing needle is always going to be a favourite).  The jump rings are for when I make mini bags with some of my material and leather scraps.  I am really looking forward to them arriving already.

I have had a busy day today sorting and am proud and pleased to say that I have taken another carrier bag of items to the charity shop and added more items to the rubbish.  I am hoping that aiming for a carrier bag of things a week will mean that I dont have my usual trick of working on clearing and then burning out and losing interest because things then slide back to chaos.  Wish me luck  :)

Sidetracked Again

I was hoping to have some photos to share of what I had been doing yesterday and today but things didnt quite work out as I had planned.  People phoned, my children needed my attention... you get the idea lol.  Today we needed pet food for my dogs and shoes for my youngest son.  I was glad I went in the end though, I found a shop that was selling fimo cheaper so, I was able to make a couple of pleasing buys.

Tomorrow should be quieter on the home front with everyone having plans to go out with their mates or work on homework so I may just squeeze in some mini time to finish my pillow case.  Anything more than that will be a bonus.

Bedtime Blues

Well, ok, not blue, yellow probably.  I have lots of projects that I need to get started on but, one of the things that I really need to get started on is some bedding.  I finished the basic outside to my 1/12th terrace at the end of last year and have started buying the items I need to furnish it but, I bought the bed for it a while back and it still has no bedding for it.  So I have decided to make a start on the bedding today.  I am at the moment sat with scraps of material, ribbons, lace and graph paper round me, ready to take the plunge and make a start.

This is a picture of my terrace house and 1/24th cottage.  The bed in the cottage is also awaiting bedding so, that is also on my 'to do' list.

I also have a bathroom project and a valentine table to make a start on for a couple of online groups that I am a member of so, I am hoping to be able to have a mini weekend to get moving with them over the next couple of days.

I am loving this new year so far, a busy mini year ahead for me.

Thursday 19 January 2012

Well, the table was my first attempt at making furniture, it didnt look good, but I was happier with it once painted (by my daughter).  I made these items a while ago but like I said, I am still setting things up so, I am testing things out.
I have plenty of things I plan to make so, I am sure that I will soon fill up my page.

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog.  I have a feeling that it is going to take a while for me to get set up so please be patient.  I am hoping to add some pictures soon of items that I have made and will include information of where I have got my inspiration or patterns.
